Puritan Belief

The Puritans are the men of God who started in the 16th century building on the purity of the gospel message that Salvation is by Grace alone.

What is the TRUE Gospel?

If you ask anybody, they always say, the gospel is salvation, or an explanation of salvation, or a strategy how to be saved as in PB’s illustration. The gospel is NOT a cleverly laid out theory about salvation, where only the knowledgeable and learned people can know and preach. The gospel is not a theory. The gospel is simple and easy! Even a child can proclaim and preach it.

The gospel is a person, His name is JESUS! Example: The gospel of “God”, is Jesus Christ who is the only true and Sovereign God etc.etc. The gospel of “Creation”, is Jesus who created all things, and nothing came into being apart from Him etc.etc.

It is totally up to you, what scriptural passages you like to use. The gospel of “Salvation” is Jesus Christ and there is no other name given whereby you must be saved. Etc. etc. again it’s totally up to you, how to portray Jesus in salvation. The gospel of “Redemption”, the gospel of “The Kingdom of God” etc.etc. again it is always Jesus Christ proclaimed.

This is the gospel which I preach. Paul said, “the gospel which I Paul have become a servant.” Col. 1:15-23 Take note, everything points to Jesus. If we lift up Jesus, He will draw all men to Himself. (Paul G)

With this post I agree 100%

The Gospel is simple, it is the Life, Death and Resurection (all according to the Scripture) of Jesus Christ our Lord and God.

In the Old Testament, we see Jesus in Prophesey.
In the Gospels, we see Jesus in History.
In Acts, we see Jesus in the Church.
In the Epistles, we see Jesus in our experience.
In the Apocalypse, we see Jesus
in His comming Glory
.

I think it is great that you agree with this Magi. However you seem to swap and change very easily. I am hesitant that you believe the cliche Jesus is the gospel and not its full truth.

To agree with this you would have to say that Jesus is the sole doctrine of God and not a trinity. And that Jesus alone is all sovereign and leave any inkling of free will.

Those words were not in this post.

Trinitarian doctorine is Buiblical truth, and as such is the Truth of Christ Jesus. Oneness / Modalist theology is not. Again I am submitting to 2 Timothy 2:23 and will not re-enter this debate.

The Gospel IS simple, it IS Jesus. This is not a cliche, this is the Word of God.

"I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel — which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!"
- Galatians 1:6-8

"By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures..."
- 1 Corinthians 15:2-4

PB please dont try to tell me what I believe, and know that my Faith is real, the Gift of God. Just as my salvation is a Gift from Him, assured and purchased in Blood totally apart from my works, effort or desire.

There is no god apoart from He who is revealed in the Bible, and in Jesus Christ, the Messiah, the Lord, Creator and God. Father, Son & Spirit. The Alpha and Omega for all eternity.

magi, puritan

wow! for once you agree, (in part)

It IS Jesus.

The modalist claims the Christian has a too-small view of Jesus, the Christian claims the modalist reinterprets scripture to fit his own pre-established beliefs.

The overlap is where we actually meet. Jesus IS the only name wherewith we are saved. We endeavor to know one thing, Christ and Him crucified. We died with Him, and are raised with Him to new life.

It is incorrect to claim the Christian does not accept these truths (except perhaps the liberal theologians who are unworthy of the title), because without them, a Christian has NO defining characteristics.

The Christian believes that Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of the Father, was the personality in the Godhead to take on flesh, dwell among us, and act as mediator between God and man. In this He is forever exalted. He is in every way God.

I have nothing further to say about who HE is that cannot be discerned by Scripture.

BTW- puritan: you could use a better sidekick. One with greater depth, grace and familiarity with scripture.
Preferably one less likely to derail an intelligent and profitable discussion with a tired and empty rant. You had a good discussion going until he broke in on it.

As was said in this post "Even a child can proclaim and preach it.
"

I am not looking for an intelligent conversation but one that exalts Jesus. I was looking for this in your comment.

Jesus is not one of the personalities of the Godhead that became flesh He alone is the Godhead. The God and Father of all who became flesh and dwelt among us. The one who created all things and nothing came into being apart from Him the Alpha and the Omega.

To say Jesus is the gospel and then believe that there is another one or two personalities in the Godhead who are not Jesus makes it very clear that Jesus is not the gospel but merely a part of the gospel. a part of the godhead a part of salvation a part of redemption and a part of the TRUTH.

I believe that all truth is found in Jesus and there is nothing lacking in Him, I have found my rest in Christ and need not look to any man made explanation of God namely the trinity and universalism which the whole world has gone after save the elect.

It is exactly as you have said PB. The whole world has gone after that trinity lie except the elect.
This lie that God is three persons is preached and taught in every church, it started in Rome (the false church) and infiltrated all the churches.
I know there are in every denomination a few of the elect whose heart is fully for the Lord Jesus.
One thing I do not understand.
Why is it that the saints who know these things are silent and do not speak up against those lies and deceptions in their churches?

Some Trinitarians teach that God is possessed with three persons.
Such men are ignorant deceivers.
Do not believe them, but trust in the Lord Jesus with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding, commit your ways and doctrines to the Lord Jesus and He will make your path and doctrines straight. Prov. 2:5+6

seeing as this topic of the trinity is still going on...i still have many questions...

I believe that the name of the trinity is Jesus. There are not 3 jesus, but one jesus with 3 distinct parts. Just like you are a triuni person.

This is the best description of the trinity i can think of. it does not dismiss the trinity, but it gives a name to the God we serve who is triune...Jesus. So now...do you disagree with the trinity?

The trinity is nothing like you understand it or explain it.

Yes we are triune in the way you explain that we have a body a soul and a spirit.

Jesus also has a body Soul and Spirit and Jesus chose to create us in His image.

hmmmm...i think in my pride i added hastely the previous comment.

anyway ... PG you asked 'Why is it that the saints who know these things are silent and do not speak up against those lies and deceptions in their churches?'

To be totally honest, i still do not understand why our language needs to be any different from the way jesus speaks of himself and the way the apostles speak of him...As the one and only son of God who came from God. seriously, if we are commanded to speak like you and PB, i would . I'd shout it out loud...
But instead i prefer to use the language of the new testament... how paul talks about God the father of our master jesus... so now am i going to be disowned by him? For not acknowledgeing him, will jesus not acknowledge me before his father...o hang on, theres that wording again...im sure its ok to use this and let God be God and reveal all things when the timing is right.

I have no problem using the language of the new testament.

Perhaps you missed this in the post.

"It is totally up to you, what scriptural passages you like to use."

In church business all throughout Australia this Sunday they will use many verses then put their own slant on these verses to demote Jesus and lift up themselves.

My point is that any slant we take on scripture must lift Jesus up to the most exalted position. This is the Spirit of the Gospel the exalted Christ.

This was the main point of this post: "If we lift up Jesus, He will draw all men to Himself"

To me if Jesus is part of the trinity then He is a part of the Gospel and when a trinitarian agrees that Jesus is the gospel they are simply agreeing to a cliche.

Puritan Belief,

Thanks for your patience with me...

john 8:16-18 says: “But if I do judge, my decisions are right, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me. In your law it is written that the testimony of two men is valid. I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me”.

The father lifts up jesus and the spirit lifts up jesus. ...if the trinity consept is correct wouldnt the whole trinity lift up jesus to the highest position?

Say the trinity concept is man made...wouldnt it point to man? wouldnt it de throne jesus? But i see here in this passage "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one" - 1 John 5:7

3 witnesses that bear record in heaven...of what? Of jesus Christ...all lifting up jesus.

So what is wrong ?

sorry, there must be something missing in my faith for i dont understand... The father, son and holy spirit is what is important to me for they all bear witness to Jesus...and for them to be 3 witnesses they stand on their own apart from one another to be a valid witness...isnt that right?

sorry to take up your space with this argument/question seeing as you have faced this kind of questions many times before.

allforlove,
your assessment is correct. The WHole point of scripture, and everything for that matter is to Glorify God. Jesus is God. Simple.

The Trinity does not replace Jesus or demote Jesus. There is one God who is Father, Son and Spirit. The Johannine comma (1 John 5:7) is only found in the KJV and the NKJV (of the major Bible translations) and as such should be treated with care.

However, since the whole of Scripture testefies of Christ (John 5:39-40)and the three whitness also testify of Christ the KJV rendering of 1 John 5:7 is not problematic when tested against the rest of the council of scripture.

Because it is not included in many bible translations 1 John 5:7 should not be used as an evidence on its own though.

The trinity is not found or taught in the Bible.
The trinity is an Antichrist doctrine cooked up in the church of Rome and is regurgitated in the Westminster confession by the Anglican church who is the daughter of the church of Rome.
If you read the trinity doctrine on MDM’s blog, perhaps you can smell that dead rat. This wicked doctrine is designed to derail the elect who believe in Jesus and the whole world has gone after it, save the elect.
The Trinity means: Three in one, Tri-unity, three –unity, three united, three are one.

Jesus is not a (three-unity), or united with three, or three in one.
Jesus is self sufficient and self existent.
The Lord thy God is one.

Jesus created you in His image.
One person, spirit soul and body just like Jesus.
Some believers say that the spirit is the same as the soul.
However I do not hold this explanation, because of the Genesis factor.

The word trinity is not in the Bible!
Perhaps try to eradicate that word in your heart and ask the Lord Jesus to help you to do so.
Remember Jesus said, anything you ask Me I will do for you.
So ask and you will see how wonderful the Lord Jesus is.

I would say they believed the same thing before catholocism officially formalised.

Unless they are born again the will consede that God is untrue or a mystery to them. And everyone I have ever talked to about the trinity indepth will say that the trinity is a mystery. Even the 3 mobile phone add on TV has it in its lyrics ".. that ancient mystery trinity"

But to us we do this:
"... words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel"

Allforlove:
The KJV had catholic influence. The verse you used is the catholics putting the trinity into the bible. Read 1 John 5:7-8 in the niv it is prety obvious what it means.

Your understanding of the verse was spot on.

Church Doctrine - The so called "Church Fathers" can only be traced back to the second to the fourth century. (e.g. The Emperor Constantine, et al) He , for instance worshipped the Sun god and took on Christianity for political purposes only. Greek Philosophy, and paganism mixed with the true Christian faith and redefined Christ and the one true God. Isreal, the prophets, Jesus Messiah, and all of the Apostles, except Luke, were Jews. One has to look at the Scriptures from Hebrew eyes, not the Hellanistic/Gnostic which invaded the truth that "God is one God and one LORD (YAHWEH), not the Lord Jesus Christ.

The true Gospel from the Sciptures, O.T. prophesy, what Christ spoke and all the Apostles is the coming Kingdom of God which Jesus Christ, God's Anointed, will establish when He returns to the earth with "power and great glory"! He will reign from mount Zion and be King of kings and Lord of lords over all the earth. The earth will be restored to the original Eden like condition and at the end of the thousand year reign of Christ with His Apostles and saints will give up the kingdom to God so that "God may be all in all"!

God's name is Yahwah,
The LORD God the Creator. The God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ. Psalm 110:1 The LORD says to my Lord: "Sit at My right hand Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet." The first LORD is God (Adonai - always in reference to God) the second lord (adoni - always reference to a human superior e.g. man or angel).
